Dr Arseni Doyennel is a climate and environmental scientist specializing in high-resolution modelling of atmospheric chemistry and urban air pollution. His current research focuses on developing high-resolution air pollution and atmospheric chemistry exposure data for the city of Rotterdam. This work integrates large eddy simulations (LES), mesoscale models, and advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques in collaboration with VU Amsterdam, TU Delft, and TNO.
His research background includes extensive experience in atmospheric chemistry, climate science, and environmental studies. As a postdoctoral researcher at VU Amsterdam, he worked on greenhouse gas emission modelling in the Netherlands using the Dutch Atmospheric Large Eddy Simulation (DALES). He holds a PhD in Environmental Science from ETH Zurich and PMOD/WRC in Davos, Switzerland, where his research focused on global chemistry-climate modelling, addressing the ozone evolution in the past and future. Additionally, he holds a PhD from St. Petersburg State University, where he explored the space-climate interactions through atmospheric electricity, contributing to projects investigating the effects of external forcings on climate and atmospheric chemistry.
With a multidisciplinary approach and a passion for advancing climate and environmental sciences, his work aims to bridge the gap between research and practical solutions for urban air quality and environmental challenges.
