Circular economy is an emerging field for Nature-based Solutions' applications, as they can reclaim water from non-conventional water sources. You will learn about the types of Nature-based Solutions that can contribute to resource circularity in cities, proposing four dimensions and related key factors for the implementation and up-scaling of Nature-based Solutions for water reuse in urban areas. - Restoration of the urban wetland El Tunjo in Bogotá
You will learn from the case study of the GCF-Conservation International project for the hydrological and ecological restoration of the El Tunjo wetland complex, implementing Nature-based Solutions; ecosystem-based adaptation for disaster risk reduction in Bogotá, Colombia.
Speakers
Alexandra Tsatsou
Alexandra is an Architect Engineer with a MSc in Urban Management & Development from IHS Erasmus University Rotterdam, and currently a Ph.D. candidate at the National Technical University of Athens. She is a researcher in CARDIMED project (Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience demonstrated in the Mediterranean Region). CARDIMED focuses on 9 Demos with 47 NBS types and 83 related interventions being implemented across the Mediterranean.
Diego Restrepo
Diego graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of the Andes, Colombia. He obtained an MSc in Water Science and Flood Risk Management from IHE Delft and the Technical University of Dresden, as well as an MSc in Urban Management and Development – Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change from IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam. He works as a Consultant on Water Sciences and adaptation to climate change at Conservation International and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in Colombia. He is also Co-founder of the Riparia Foundation.
