Ore Fika

Ore Fika is a Senior Specialist in Urban Land and Housing Development, PhD Candidate and lecturer at IHS. With an architecture and project management background, her expertise is in the legal and economic aspects of the land. She focuses on land development strategies that enable lower-income populations to have equitable access to land and housing. She lectures on Land Tenure Modalities, Land and Property Rights, Community Land Trust, Inclusionary Zoning, Land Grabbing, Spatial Segregation, Gentrification, Land Markets and Land Value Capture Instruments, among others.

Giulia Maci

Giulia Maci

Giulia Maci is a Gender Specialist and Programme Manager at Cities Alliance (UNOPS). She has over a decade of experience leading urban development initiatives, specialising in creating inclusive, resilient cities that empower women and local communities. Her work spans across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, where she has driven transformative urban projects, focused on sustainable urban planning, cultural heritage preservation, and capacity-building for women and girls.

Alexander Jachnow

Dr Jachnow dedicates his work to a more sustainable and just urbanisation in the South, specialising in capacity development, urban policies, governance and management. He built the first ever Urban Development Technical Facility of the EU Commission and acted for 9 years as the lead researcher and lecturer for Urban Planning at IHS. His experience includes slum upgrading in Brazil, housing design and construction in Mexico and field research and programme reviews on urban topics worldwide. He advises governments, civil society, agencies and practitioners on essential questions of urban development.

Robbert Nesselaar

Robbert Nesselaar is the director of Citymarketing Arnhem, and Co-Founder of Closer Cities, an international research project that connects urban practice to urban science and aims to optimise international knowledge exchange among cities. The Closer Cities platform is co-founded by four partners: The Vital Cities and Citizens Erasmus Initiative (EUR), IHS - Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for BOLD Cities and Nesselaar Urban Consultancy.
