We invite abstract submissions for the IHS Financing Urban Resilience through Land Value Capture Conference. IHS invites you to review the collection of themes below and submit your abstract to your preferred theme. Any contribution is welcome, including abstracts of case studies, research, or opinion pieces.
Submission details should include:
- Title of the theme the abstract is submitted to
- Parallel session (1 or 2) the abstract is submitted to
- Title of the abstract
- Name(s) and affiliation(s)
- Contact details of the presenter
- Abstract of max. 200 words
- List of max. 5 keywords
IMPORTANT! Theme 2 and 4 are open for abstract submissions until the 26th of May. Theme 1 and 3 have closed for abstract submissions. Please submit your abstract to Ms. Francesca Vanelli (land@ihs.nl).
IHS will review all submissions and will notify on acceptance of abstracts by the end of May. Please note that the conference will be hosted online.
Themes
What are the concepts and application of land-based finance instruments and land value capture instruments? What are the challenges of LVC in the context of resilience, including institutional capacity, awareness, legal framework, and politics?
What are the main resilience strategies employed in cities in response to climate change and/or natural disasters? What are sources of private and public revenues? How are the different urban actors involved?
What role can land-based financing play in building resilience in cities? What best practice exist and what can be learned from them? What are the drivers and constraints to its use?
What recommendation and next steps can be envisioned to promote greater use of land-based financing, with a special focus on cities in the global South? What is required from different urban actors to address resilience financing?
