After 100 editions of the International Course on Housing and Urban Development, IHS has developed a fresh new identity for the course. The new course name, Sustainable Urban Development, reflects more closely the content of this course and the Institute's focus on sustainability.
Today more people live in cities than ever before. These increasingly complex cities need experts with combined skills in infrastructure, economic development, land and housing markets, sustainable planning and resilience to climate change, who can tackle emerging urban issues. We at IHS have already educated 100 classes of urban professionals on these topics in the International Course on Urban Management and Development and will continue doing so under the courses new name! Sustainable Urban Development, an intensive tailored 3-month course for urban professionals, combines an academic specialisation course with a multidisciplinary project where participants apply theory into practice and deal with urban challenges.
The participants of this course are able to tailor their studies by choosing an individual learning track through one of the six specialisations of the MSc in Urban Management and Development:
- Strategic Urban Planning and Policy
- Urban Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change
- Infrastructure and Green Cities
- Urban Land Governance for Sustainable Development
- Urban Economic Development and Resilience
