Laura Quadros Aniche is an Urban Sustainability and Climate Change specialist. She works on education, advisory, and research on urban sustainability and governance. Her expertise focuses on nature-based solutions, ecosystem services, climate adaptation and resilience, sustainability transitions, urban living labs, co-creation, stakeholder engagement, and participatory governance.

She teaches, mentors, and supervises students of the MSc in Urban Management and Development. She is part of the Urban Environment, Sustainability, and Climate Change master track. Laura is involved in advisory and research projects at IHS. Some of her recent and ongoing projects include:

  • SCORE (Smart Control of The Climate Resilience in European Coastal Cities), a large H2020 research and innovation project aimed at the development, deployment, evaluation, and uptake of integrated Ecosystem-Based Approaches (EBA) and smart technologies to improve the climate resilience of European coastal cities, through the establishment of a Coastal City Living Lab (CCLL) infrastructure involving multiple stakeholders and supported by novel digital technologies – 2021-2025
  • Leveraging Empowered Circular Communities in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador: A Promising Pathway to Sustainable Development and Conservation, a collaborative project between Leiden, TU Delft, and Erasmus universities – 2023-2024
  • Raising the Impact of Circular Economy and Nature-based Strategies to Achieve Climate Resilience and Equitable Provision of Public Utilities in Colombia, a Tailor-Made Training for Superintendence of Public Utilities - SSPD, funded by Nuffic – 2023-2024
  • Building Climate Resilience for Cities and Towns in Bangladesh: Nature-based Solutions for Climate Mitigation and Adaptation, a Tailor-Made Training for the Planning Division, Capital Development Authority in Dhaka, funded by Nuffic – 2023-2024

Laura holds a Master's (cum laude) in Urban Management and Development with specialization in Urban Environment, Sustainability, and Climate Change, an MBA in Real Estate Business and Civil Construction Management, and a five-year Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning.

Before joining IHS in 2016, Laura worked in project management, urban development projects, civil construction, and real estate business for twelve years. She worked on large neighbourhoods, residential, commercial, corporative, hotel and mixed-use projects. Laura was responsible for projects from land acquisition until post-delivery, involving product concept, implementation, delivery, and monitoring. Activities included product concept, business structuring, market intelligence, financial viability and monitoring, publicity, and sales. Responsible for legal procedures and technical approvals. Within the technical aspects, conducted multi-disciplinary project analysis and coordination, construction monitoring, and sustainability strategies, including LEED and Triple-A certificates processes.
